Guest Programme UNFORGETTABLE 09.06. WEDNESDAY 10.00-17.00 The National Park is located at approximately one hour's drive from Tallinn. The park covers intact landscapes of different types – coastal low lands, pine forests, limestone cliff, stone fields, waterfalls and rapids. In the park there are several well-restored manor houses which allow tourists to get a superb outline of the Estonian 18-19th century manorial architecture. Fishermen's mode of life in the past can be observed in a small fishing village. The tour includes also an inside visit to one of the manor houses where tourists can see interior details, furniture and art of the corresponding historic period. Typical Estonian national food will be served at Altja Inn. The highlight of a visit to Saaremaa, the biggest of Estonia's island, is the Bishop's Castle in the town of Kuressaare. The 14th century castle is the best preserved medieval fortress in the Baltics.Visit Kuressaare's Old Town with its Baroque stone buildings and bustling outdoor market, the countryside with its thatched roof villages, fortified stone churches, nature reserves and ancient hill forts. UNIVERSITY TOWN The second largest city in Estonia is the de facto capital of the South. A university town since the 17th century, when the Swedish king Gustav II Adolphus founded Alma mater there. Impressive ruins of the former cathedral church at the site of Estonian's stronghold Tarbatu and later German knights castle houses a museum of university's history. Architectually Tartu is an opposite to Tallinn medieval gothic old town representing pure classifistic forms.
